Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a system of medicine that is thousands of years old. It involves the insertion of pins in the body in certain area called acupuncture points. By doing so, the body's energy flow can be manipulated. This results in restored balance in the body. A typical treatment is relatively painless, and is usually quite calming and relaxing.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbs may be prescribed as adjunctive care for your ailment, or they may be a stand-alone treatment. There are hundreds of herbs in the Chinese herbal pharmacopeia, and herbs are likely presribed in formula. They are usually plant based materials like twigs, barks, and leaves. Common delivery methods include powders (to make tea), tinctures, and pills. They may not taste delicious, but they will certainly quicken the healing time of an ailment.
Cupping
Cupping is a technique that involves the placement of glass cups on various parts of the body. It may sound and look strange, but it is actually a simple way to relieve congestion and promote healing. Glass cups are placed on the body using a suction method. It is most frequently done on the back. The cups are either left in a stationary position or moved using a sliding technique. Cupping is very effective at easing tensed muscles and is a great treatment for back pain. It is also very helpful when treating lung conditions such as astma, wheezing, or cough. It may leave some pinkish-purplish marks on the body, but only for a short time.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medical technique where Mugwort is burned. Mugwort (latin name: Artemesia Vulgaris) is an herb used both internally and externally in Chinese medicine; with moxibustion we are talking about the external application of the herb. It is burned, much like incense, over specific areas of the body. It is warming and can help ease pain. Moxa has unique properties related to gynecology. It is very useful at elimination menstrual cramps. And one of the most wondrous uses is moxa's ability to turn a breech baby.
Nutritional Counseling
Eating healthy food is obviously an important part in maintaining health. Traditional Chinese Medicine has a unique view on dietary therapy. It considers the energetics of food and how that corresponds to the energetics of the person. It also stresses the importance of eating seasonally. Through dietary changes we can work to promote health.
Facial Rejuvenation
Health and balance is reflected in the skin. Acupuncture can play a wonderful role in skin care. Facial acupuncture can help reduce fine lines, boost collagen, and increase brightness. It can also address issues such as acne, roseacea, and melasma. Julie uses a unique protocol, along with a LED device called the Celluma Pro, that truly enhances the appearance of skin.
